Terms of use

In short

Everything here is general information about garden birds, not professional advice. Use your own judgement, particularly where an animal’s welfare or the law is involved. Our content is our copyright; please don’t republish it wholesale.

Agreement

By using beakfeeder.co.uk you accept these terms. If you don’t accept them, please don’t use the site.

Information, not professional advice

This is the important one.

Everything on Beakfeeder is general information. It is not veterinary advice, legal advice, or professional guidance of any kind. We are not vets, ecologists or lawyers.

In particular:

  • Sick or injured birds. Our guidance describes what to look for and who to contact. It is not a substitute for advice from a vet or a licensed wildlife rescue. If an animal is suffering, contact the RSPCA (England and Wales), Scottish SPCA (Scotland), USPCA (Northern Ireland), or a local wildlife rescue.
  • Legal matters. Where we describe legislation — such as protections for nesting birds under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 — we’re summarising it in plain English. Law changes and individual circumstances vary. For a specific situation, particularly one involving building work or a dispute, take proper advice.
  • Feeding guidance. We reflect current RSPB and BTO recommendations as best we understand them. Those recommendations change. Always check the source organisation’s current position for anything important.

Accuracy

We take real care with accuracy and cite our sources. But we can’t guarantee everything is complete, current or error-free. Bird information is revised as research develops, and product details change without notice.

If you spot something wrong, please tell us.

Products and purchases

Where we recommend products, we’re offering an opinion based on research and, where stated, use. We don’t sell anything ourselves.

Any purchase you make is a contract between you and the retailer — not with us. We aren’t responsible for the products themselves, their quality, their availability, delivery, returns or any consequence of using them. Prices and specifications shown are accurate at the time of writing only.

See our affiliate disclosure for how we’re funded.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we’re not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of this site or from acting on information found here. You use the information at your own discretion and risk.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Please don’t:

External links

We link to other websites where they’re useful. We aren’t responsible for their content, accuracy or availability, and a link isn’t an endorsement of everything on that site.

Availability

We try to keep the site available and working, but we don’t guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it without notice.

Wildlife and the law

All wild birds in the UK are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. Nothing on this site should be taken as encouragement to disturb, harm or interfere with wild birds, their nests or their eggs. Where our content touches on these areas we set out the legal position as we understand it, but you’re responsible for complying with the law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they were last revised, and continued use of the site means you accept the current version.
