We don’t ask you to create an account, we don’t sell data, and we don’t run advertising trackers. The only personal information we hold is what you send us by email. This page explains the detail.
Who we are
This privacy policy applies to beakfeeder.co.uk (“Beakfeeder”, “we”, “us”).
For any question about this policy or about your data, contact hellobeakfeeder@gmail.com.
What information we collect
Information you give us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to put in the message. We use it only to reply to you and, where relevant, to correct or improve a page you’ve written about.
Our email is hosted by Google (Gmail), which means messages you send are stored on Google’s servers and handled under Google’s own privacy terms.
Information collected automatically
Like almost all websites, our web server records standard technical information when a page is requested — including IP address, browser type, device type, referring page and the time of the request. This is generated by the hosting infrastructure and used for security and for diagnosing faults.
Cookies
A cookie is a small file a website stores on your device.
Beakfeeder does not set advertising cookies, tracking cookies or analytics cookies. WordPress, the software this site runs on, may set a strictly necessary session cookie for logged-in administrators; this does not apply to ordinary visitors.
If we introduce analytics or any other non-essential cookie in future, we will ask for your consent before it is set, and update this page.
Amazon affiliate links
This site contains affiliate links to Amazon. If you click one, Amazon may set a cookie on your device to track that the visit came from us, so that any qualifying purchase is attributed correctly.
That cookie is set by Amazon, on Amazon’s website, after you leave ours. It is governed by Amazon’s own privacy notice and cookie settings, not by us. We do not receive any personal information about you from Amazon — only anonymous, aggregated reporting on clicks and orders.
Amazon’s privacy notice is available on their website.
What we don’t do
- We don’t sell, rent or trade personal information
- We don’t run advertising networks or retargeting pixels
- We don’t build profiles of visitors
- We don’t require you to register or create an account
- We don’t knowingly collect information from children
Legal basis for processing
Where we process personal data, we rely on:
- Legitimate interests — for responding to emails you send us, and for keeping the site secure and functioning
- Consent — for anything optional, such as a newsletter, if and when we introduce one. You would be able to withdraw consent at any time
How long we keep things
Email correspondence is kept for as long as it’s useful for answering your query and for records of any correction made to the site, and deleted when it no longer serves that purpose. Server logs are retained by our hosting provider under their standard retention period.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct anything inaccurate
- Ask us to delete it
- Object to or restrict how we use it
- Ask for a copy in a portable format
- Withdraw consent, where we relied on consent
To exercise any of these, email hellobeakfeeder@gmail.com. We’ll respond within one month.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.
Links to other sites
This site links to external websites, including Amazon and organisations such as the RSPB and BTO. We aren’t responsible for their content or their privacy practices. When you follow a link, that site’s own privacy policy applies.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes we’ll update the date at the top of the page. Material changes — for example introducing analytics or a newsletter — will be reflected here before the change takes effect.
